Environmental Charge

At Advanced Disposal, we believe a cleaner environment means a brighter future for individuals, businesses and governments alike. That’s why we’re committed to operating our business in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. The environmental charge that is shown as a line item on our invoices helps us cover the costs we incur for being environmentally responsible. It’s based on a percentage of all invoice charges excluding taxes.

These environmental costs can include, but are not limited to:

  • Tire disposal
  • Battery disposal
  • Landfill linings and cover
  • Engineering
  • Permit and license compliance
    • NPDES
    • SPCC / SWPPP
    • Title V Air
    • Federal, State and Local
  • Landfill Development and resource replacement
  • Landfill monitoring
  • Landfill maintenance
  • Landfill leachate disposal
  • Environmental Insurance and Surety Bonds
  • Employee training and certification

Fuel Charge
Advanced Disposal remains committed to controlling costs so we can continue to provide you with the best overall value in waste-related services. However, fuel prices are something we cannot control. Consequently, our invoices reflect a fee to help recover from the impact of fuel prices on our total expenses.

The fuel charge calculation is normally adjusted monthly and is tied to the lower Atlantic East Coast average price of diesel fuel as reported by the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy (EIA/DOE) in its Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices Index.

This index is objective, publicly available and widely recognized in the trucking and transportation industries.  If you have any questions regarding these charges, please contact your personal sales representative or the nearest Advanced Disposal facility.
