Advanced Disposal owns and operates 25 transfer stations that support our landfills. Transfer stations are facilities where waste is consolidated together from local routes. In turn, that waste is hauled to the landfill utilizing tractor trailers.
By combining the loads of several individual waste collection trucks into a single shipment, communities can save money on the labor and operating costs of transporting the waste to a distant disposal site. They can also reduce the total number of vehicular trips traveling to and from the disposal site. This efficient way of transporting waste not only reduces truck miles on the roads but also the associated vehicle emissions that correspond to these extra truck trips.
Advanced Disposal’s largest landfill, Eagle Point Landfill, disposes of garbage trucked in from as far as 145 miles away. More than 17 transfer stations feed into Eagle Point Landfill.
