Advanced Disposal Top Players of 2011
Franklin Pharr - 2011 Employee of the Year
Franklin has been a great asset to Advanced Disposal – Gulf Coast since 2009. He’s a Residential Driver servicing the Cities of Saraland and Spanish Fort, Alabama, where his customers have grown to love his stellar customer service and the attitude with which he does his job every day.
Franklin has provided the high level of service that is expected at Advanced Disposal with no injuries or accidents. His attendance record is exemplary, and he is always smiling. It’s not only that Franklin always does what’s asked of him, but he always does that extra that makes Advanced Disposal stand out from our competitors.
“When I arrived in Gulf Coast last year with the challenge of raising the bar and improving current employees’ attitudes, Franklin was a cornerstone,” said Erik Sankey, General Manager. “He comes to work everyday with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. His coworkers know they can always rely on Franklin. I wish I had 30 more like him. In my opinion there is no one else more deserving of this award!”
David Jacobs - 2011 Good Samaritan
David Jacobs is Front Load Driver and Commercial Driver Team Leader at Advanced Disposal – Jacksonville, Florida (Philips Highway location) and has been with the company for almost four years. David helps with getting safety messages across to fellow drivers by hosting safety and tailgate meetings. He is well known for communicating safety hazards over the radio as they develop. He recently helped a police officer break out the windshield of a 16-passenger van and pull people to safety after it rolled over on Interstate 95 in Jacksonville. David then used his fire extinguisher to put out smoke on the vehicle to prevent it from starting to flame. Department of Transportation was on the scene and praised David for his actions. David told officers he checks his fire extinguisher during pre-trip to ensure operation daily – a small daily procedure that saved lives on this particular day. His act of heroism makes him the 2011 Good Samaritan. Way to go, David! Your Advanced Disposal family is proud of you!
Lynn Gowan - 2011 Municipal Marketing MVP
Lynn serves as Municipal Marketing & Government Affairs Manager for Alabama and has been with the company for more than 11 years. His supervisor, Gentry Shows, described Lynn in three words: “Dependable, Determined and Successful, which all make him a model employee.” He works well with city and county staff to ensure Advanced Disposal is the service provider for residents. In 2011, Lynn was responsible for renewing or winning $7 million in revenue from contracts with cities and counties in Alabama. Fantastic job, Lynn!
Jessica Schmidt - 2011 Sales MVP
Jessica is Retention Sales Representative at Advanced Disposal – Atlanta South and has been with the company for a little more than two years. Her role and responsibilities have changed several times in those two years, but her vigorous work ethic remains constant. She trains new sales representatives while pushing the veteran representatives to sell more. Her supervisor, Matt Mayfield, described Jessica as “an all purpose employee” who surpasses every goal she is given. Congratulations, Jessica for being our 2011 Sales MVP.
