      ADVANCED DISPOSAL CELEBRATES EARTH DAY ALL MONTH LONG
      During the month of April, Advanced Disposal participates in numerous community events in honor of Earth Day.

      April 15, 2012 - Arts Alive! (Mobile)
      Advanced Disposal is proud to sponsor Arts Alive!, We invite everyone to participate in a hand painting activity for kids of all ages at Sunday’s festival from noon to 4 p.m.  In honor of Earth Day, a two-yard dumpster will be placed along Cathedral Square on Claiborne Street for kids to add their handprints in multi-colored paint, creating a messy masterpiece. Kids who participate will receive an Earth Day surprise.  The decorated dumpster will be donated to the Mobile Arts Council, which is adjacent to Cathedral Square. Advanced Disposal is also providing recycling receptacles for the entire weekend event.

      Saturday, April 21, 2012 - "Team Up to Clean Up" Spring Clean Up (Tallassee)
      For the second year, Stone's Throw Landfill is sponsoring the annual "Team Up to Clean Up" Spring Clean Up event.  Litter teams and clean up areas will be coordinated through the Tallassee Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee.  Advanced Disposal will provide specially designed Earth Day 2012 T-shirts for all volunteers and will place a roll-off container at Tallassee City Hall, located at Three Freeman Avenue, to dispose of all litter collected during the clean up. Families are welcomed back to the City Hall green at sundown for a special showing of “Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked,” shown on a 30 foot-wide screen outside, while they enjoy popcorn, peanuts and refreshments.

      Saturday, April 21, 2012 - Earth Day Clean Up on Lake Jordan (Titus)
      Advanced Disposal is teaming up with the Homeowners and Boat owners Association of Lake Jordan for the Annual Lake Clean Up. Residents are invited to participate in an Earth Day Clean-up event put on in conjunction with the City of Saraland and Advanced Disposal. Help clean up the community and get an Advanced Disposal Earth Day t-shirt.

      Saturday, April 14, 2012 – Nease High School IB Program Annual Beach Cleanup (St. Augustine)
      Advanced Disposal – St. Johns County is proud to again sponsor the Nease High School IB Program Annual Beach Cleanup. A monetary donation will fund T-shirts for the students, who will devote their Saturday to cleaning up their beach – mile by mile.

      Saturday, April 21, 2012 – Keep Pasco Beautiful Great American Cleanup (Pasco County)
      Keep Pasco Beautiful will be hosting a Great American Cleanup on April 21. Advanced Disposal’s Pasco Lakes Landfill General Manager Jeff Pope will be Team Captain for the fourth year in a row. Everyone is invited to come join the fun while cleaning up our County from 8 am until noon. 

      April 27-29, 2012 – Rhythm & Ribs Festival (St. Augustine)
      The annual Rhythm & Ribs Festival features award-winning barbeque, great live music and children’s activities. More than 20,000 visitors are expected at this year’s festival, and Advanced Disposal is proud to be a sponsor again this year and provide waste services for the event. This year JJ Grey & Mofro will be headlining the main stage Saturday April 28, 2012! The event benefits a number of community organizations including Boys & Girls Club, Council on Aging, St. Francis House and countless others.

      April 28, 2012 - Tree Hill Nature Center 11th Annual Butterfly Festival (Jacksonville)
      Advanced Disposal is proud to sponsor Tree Hill Nature Center 11th Annual Butterfly Festival.  Families and kids will enjoy a day of nature activities and crafts, face painting, petting zoo and even a butterfly release at 3:30 p.m. Address is 7152 Lone Star Road in Jacksonville.       Thursday, April 19, 2012 – Landfill Gas-to-Energy Plant Ribbon Cutting at Wolf Creek Landfill (Dry Branch)
      In honor of Earth Day, Wolf Creek Landfill and Advanced Disposal will unveil the new landfill gas-to-energy facility located at 911 Landfill Road in Dry Branch, Georgia. The event will include lunch and facility tours and is invite only please. 

      Saturday, April 21, 2012 – Touch-A-Truck Event (Sugar Hill)
      The City of Sugar Hill Recreation Department is hosting its 3rd Annual Touch-A-Truck Event. This event is from noon – 3 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at E.E Robinson Park (850 Level Creek Rd, Sugar Hill, 30518). Advanced Disposal will be there again this year showing off some of our beautiful garbage trucks! The Earth Day celebration will include the “Trash to Treasure” community yard sale, a fundraiser for White Oak Elementary School and its outdoor classroom and garden. 

      Tuesday, April 24, 2012 – Jeffersonville Elementary Earth Day Celebration (Jeffersonville) 
      Advanced Disposal and Wolf Creek Landfill are thrilled to continue the partnership with Jeffersonville Elementary around Earth Day this year. We are sponsoring an Earth Day Coloring and Essay Contest. A special presentation to the winners, followed by planting of two cherry blossom trees that we are donating, will take place on Tuesday, April 24. 

      Friday, April 27, 2012 – Twiggs County Relay for Life (Jeffersonville)
      Advanced Disposal and Wolf Creek Landfill are proud to again be the Presenting Sponsor of the Twiggs County Relay for Life.       During the month of April, Advanced Disposal participates in numerous community events in honor of Earth Day.

      April 19-22 and 26-29, 2012 - Crawfish Music Festival (Biloxi)
      The Crawfish Music Festival will be held at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi and is expected to bring in about 50,000 people over the eight-day celebration. Coca-Cola is the title sponsor of this year’s Crawfish Music Festival and other sponsors include Budweiser, Hard Rock Casino, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources and Advanced Disposal.

      The name of the festival has been expanded to reflect the emphasis on music as more than 30 country, rock, Cajun/Zydeco and R&B bands are scheduled to perform at this 20th annual event. The Band Perry and Montgomery Gentry are among the headlining acts, and other acts include: Thompson Square, Willie Clayton and Lakeside, Jake Owen, the Skylar Foster Band and Brandon Green, winner of the Guitar Center’s “Your Next Record with Keith Urban” contest.

      Saturday, April 21, 2012 – Community Recycle Day (Ellisville)
      Advanced Disposal is proud to continue its wonderful partnership with Jones County Junior College (JCJC) by sponsoring a Community Recycle Day on April 21 in honor of Earth Week. The JCJC ecoBobcats invite the community to drop off items for recycling including electronics, clothing, plastic bags, cardboard, and a host of other items. See flyer for more information. An e-cycling event will also be taking place. The event is from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the JCJC Football Stadium Parking lot. Everything on the same day at the same place can be recycled.

      Sunday, April 22, 2012 - E-cycle Event (Gulfport)
      Advanced Disposal, along with the Harrison County Utility Authority and Harrison County Beautification Commission, are holding an e-cycling event in celebration of Earth Day and invite all residents and businesses to bring their unwanted electronics for safe recycling.  The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harrison County Human Services Department, 10260 Larkin Smith Dr. in Gulfport.  Event participants can bring an assortment of electronics for recycling including computers, monitors, televisions, appliances, etc.

      Saturday, March 31, 2012 - Lexington’s Sixth Annual Lexington Cleanup (Lexington)
      The town of Lexington’s Sixth Annual Lexington Cleanup is slated for Saturday, March 31. In partnership with Keep the Midlands Beautiful and Advanced Disposal, the Lexington Cleanup challenges schools, neighborhoods, civic organizations, and other groups to restore and beautify areas in their communities.
