22,000 POUNDS OF PAPER SHREDDED AND RECYCLED AT FREE SHREDDER DAY
Advanced Disposal and St. Johns County Teamed Up to Protect Identities
and Celebrate America Recycles Day
SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla., (November 17, 2011) – Advanced Disposal collected and recycled 22,000 pounds of paper and 1,500 pounds of cardboard in just four hours on Saturday at the St. Johns County Shredder Day in St. Augustine, which was hosted and managed by Advanced Disposal. The event was held to help reduce the risk of identity theft for residents and businesses and in celebration of America Recycles Day.
Advanced Disposal partnered with St. Johns County to bring the free shredding event to the community, and the turnout was tremendous. Residents started lining up an hour before the event started, and by 9 a.m. there were 18 cars already lined up to have their documents shredded. Residents and businesses were invited to shred their personal documents, colored paper, stapled or paper-clipped documents, file folders and file hangers.
Another incentive for participants was a $50 Target gift card drawing for those who became a fan of Advanced Disposal on Facebook. Cassandra Gross of Elkton was the lucky winner who was selected and announced on America Recycles Day, which was Tuesday.
Advanced Disposal works every day to make St. Johns County and surrounding areas cleaner and greener and has plans for more shredding events in the future.
