Eight "Recycling Only" Containers Placed Around Town For Everyone's Use, Saving City in Disposal Costs
Advanced Disposal Services, Inc., a regional integrated environmental services company, will begin placing “recycling only” containers around the city on Monday. These eight containers are for all residents to dispose of their recyclable items including cardboard, paper, plastic and aluminum, 24 hours a day, seven days a week at no cost.
“We encourage all of our residents to take advantage of the recycling containers and make it their New Year’s resolution to recycle,” said City Manager Denis Keveryn. “This comes at no additional cost to residents, and we expect it to save the city a significant amount in disposal costs each year since these items will no longer have to be disposed of at the landfill. Those savings will translate to the residents.”
Please take all cardboard, paper, plastic and aluminum items to one of the eight recycling only containers. A list of all locations for the containers will be distributed soon. Please do not put glass in these recycle containers as glass cannot be recycled in our city.
- Plastic food, beverage, detergent bottles and jugs labeled #1 – #7 (numbers can be found on the bottom of the container)
- Corrugated cardboard (flattened out and cut in pieces 2' by 2' or smaller)
- Newspapers and inserts (on rainy days, please hold until next collection)
- Telephone books
- Brown paper bags
- Office and copy paper
- Metal and aluminum cans (remove lids)
- File folders
- Cereal boxes
- File or packing boxes
- Junk mail
- Shredded paper in paper bag
- Brown or gray fiber packages (soda cartons, dry food packages, etc.)
Items not able to be recycled are glass, waxed juice or milk cartons (these are poly-coated and cannot be recycled), egg cartons or Styrofoam trays, mirrors or window glass, pool or other chemical containers, plastic bags, aerosol cans, wet newspaper or pizza boxes. Please make sure to remove all lids; clean and rinse all cans, bottles and plastics; and make sure all items are placed in the container, so they may be properly recycled.
