Advanced Disposal, doing business as Interstate Waste Services, is honored to be the waste and recycling provider for the U.S. Military Academy housing facility after its contract was recently extended for a three-year term.

West Point through its contractor, Balfour Beatty Communities, elected to renew the contract following a successful recycling program launch with more than 74 tons of material being recycled and a reduction of more than 93 tons of trash during the last year.

“It is an honor to provide a service to such a vital and historical institute.  I feel privileged each time I arrive on post to work with our team,” said   Marisa Kellerhouse, sales manager for Advanced Disposal. “This partnership is a true testament to what can happen when a comprehensive recycling program, which includes an educational component, is implemented effectively. We plan to grow our recycling numbers this year.”

Early in 2012, Advanced Disposal approached West Point with the goal of automating its waste needs after an analysis proved the current program was inefficient. The company, along with Balfour Beatty Communities, invested capital and talent to prove their commitment to a sustainable West Point housing campus. The resulting three-year contract is something that no other waste provider has been able to achieve with West Point.
