Advanced Disposal Receives Two Grants from Pennsylvania to Convert Trucks To CNG
Advanced Disposal, an integrated environmental services company, is one of 25 companies and organizations to be recently awarded grants from the state of Pennsylvania to convert fleet vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by Governor Corbett.
The Governor awarded $7.7 million as a part of Act 13 to assist the 25 companies in making the switch to natural gas for their heavy-duty fleet vehicles. Act 13 is expected to grow jobs as well as promote clean air.
Advanced Disposal currently has 150 CNG trucks running routes throughout the company footprint. With the award of the grants, Advanced Disposal – DuBois and Norristown, Penn. locations will convert 40 vehicles to CNG over the next 18 months increasing the fleet by 25%.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our fleet to run cleaner and greener, and CNG is certainly a large part of our efforts,” said Brian Beaudrie, Advanced Disposal’s fleet director. “We commend the state of Pennsylvania for their commitment to cleaner air and are truly grateful for this grant.”
CNG is an alternative fuel used for internal combustion engines. It generates low hydrocarbon emissions and is considered a clean energy. In the U.S. alone, NGVs (Natural Gas Vehicles) offset the use of about 400 million gallons of gasoline in 2013 according to the NGV America (Natural Gas Vehicles for America) website.
