Curbside yard waste service

• Place all leaves, grass clippings and small yard debris into a 32-gallon can or heavy-duty plastic bag.
• Non-containerized leaves, grass clippings and small yard debris will not be collected.
• No can or bag may exceed 50 lbs.
• Cut tree limbs and shrubs are not to exceed 4' in length and 50 lbs. in weight.
• All yard waste must be bagged, bundled, tied, stacked or containerized.
• Tree stumps and trunks will not be collected.

Curbside bulk item service

• Pickup once per week.
• Waste must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. of the collection day.
• Accommodates household items that cannot be placed in the 95-gallon cart.
• Items may not weigh more than 50 lbs. each.
• No-pickup holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas. NOTE: If collection day falls on a holiday, service will take place one day later for that day and for the remainder of the week following the holiday.

Curbside appliance collection service

• Pickup once per week.
• Waste must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. of the collection day.
• Place domestic appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and water heaters at curbside by 7:00 a.m. of the scheduled collection day. Please call the day before the pickup.
• When disposing of items such as refrigerators and washing machines, be sure to remove the door or lid for child safety purposes Any appliance, refrigerator, freezer or other container which has an airtight snap lock or similar device must have the door removed or be crated, strapped or locked so that it will be impossible for a child to obtain access to any compartment thereof.

Residential recycling

• Drop-off site is the Wal-Mart in Americus.
• Bins are provided for cardboard, mixed paper, metals, cans and plastic bottles.
• Concrete, bricks, cement block and dirt will not be collected.
• Tires must be taken to a tire recycler.
