We are passionate about creating a clean and safe environment for all. In fact, environmental stewardship is extremely important to us, and we view our true business as making the world a clean and greener place. We bring this passion to all of our municipal partnerships.
LANDFILLS
Our commitment runs deep, literally. Our landfills are impressive engineering structures that offer the environment leading edge protection while providing a vital service to our local government partners. We manage and operate our landfills correctly to be true assets to their communities and are backed by positive environmental records and significant civic involvement.

TRANFER STATIONS
Our transfer stations are operated as consolidation centers for solid waste in most of our markets. Our traditional collection vehicles transfer and consolidate their waste to large tractor-trailers for long-distance trips to an Advanced Disposal landfill. This method allows our solid waste collection vehicles to serve our customers more quickly. The travel distances are reduced, which alleviates traffic congestion and minimized air emissions.
LANDFILL GAS-TO-ENERGY
Converting landfill gas-to-energy has proven to be an effective way to recycle and reuse a valuable resource. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has endorsed landfill gas as an environmentally friendly energy resource. Converting landfill gas helps reduce our reliance on fossil fuels such as coal and oil.
Methane gas, a by-product of any decomposing material, is pumped out of the landfill as the cells are completed through a system of wells and pipelines into a separate on-site treatment facility. The landfill gas (containing about 50 percent methane) is captured and destroyed by the treatment facility. This prevents the landfill gas from escaping into the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas. We’re doing this process on a voluntary basis – we are an active participant in landfill gas-to-energy projects at our landfills and continue to look for smart solutions for solving community needs.
