Monthly Community Update (February 2021)
This update will provide a list of our activities related to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Forsyth County, general site operations and construction projects.
Eagle Point Landfill has now transitioned to new ownership. GFL Environmental (www.gflenv.com) has purchased several assets from Advanced Disposal Services including the Eagle Point Landfill. The sale was completed on October 31, 2020. GFL Environmental is the fourth largest waste management company in North America with operations in Canada and the US.
Management and staff here at Eagle Point are very happy to join the GFL family and want to assure the community that the operation of the Facility will continue to remain at a high level of best practice and environmental protection. We will continue to improve our operation and hope to utilise the added experience and resources of GFL to become an even better corporate citizen.
Eagle Point Landfill (EPLF) is considered an essential industry and continues to remain open during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are continuing to follow the Center for Disease Control guidelines on preventing the spread of Covid-19, maintaining social distancing for our staff and the public. Our hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 430 am to 430 pm. Saturday hours are 0700am to 1200pm.

Eagle Point Landfill continues to execute our odor monitoring program that includes routine checks for odor at preset locations within the landfill property and the surrounding Community.
We understand some folks are still sheltering in place following CDC and Georgia guidance on controlling the spread of COVID-19. We are maintaining our focus on controlling landfill odor sources and not allowing odors offsite. Eagle Point Landfill is considered an essential industry and will remain open and fully staffed during the pandemic. Please contact us or the County if you do experience odor that may be coming from the Landfill. The citizen care form on our website will be sent directly to the Eagle Point Landfill management team.
Activities completed in January, 2020.
- The Facility continued to place waste in Cell 16A.
- An eight acre of temporary HDPE cover project was initiated on the northeast portion of the Landfill. This should help control landfill gas emissions and odor as well as prevent infiltration of rain into the landfill.
Upcoming activities in February, 2021.
- Continue installation of 8 acres of temporary HDPE cover along the east north east portion of the landfill.
- The Facility will continue to perform repairs and optimization changes to the liquid collection system.
- Operations will began placing waste in cell 16B. Truck traffic will begin to be routed along the western haul road. There will be a few week transition from cell 16a to 16B with traffic patterns along the top of the landfill and the western road.
As always, if the community has any additional questions or comments, please feel free to complete the Citizen Care Form.
