Advanced Disposal Services, Inc. today announced Morris Logan is the 2010 Corporate Employee of the Year. Logan is shop supervisor at the company’s St. Johns County, Florida location and has been with Advanced Disposal since 2004.

Logan oversees Advanced Disposal’s residential and commercial maintenance operations in St. Johns County, which means ensuring 22 trucks are operating at peak performance. He leads a team of two mechanics and ensures they understand the importance of the work they perform and how it directly impacts the safety of Advanced Disposal’s drivers, helpers, customers and the general public.

“Morris takes special pride in everything he does and treats Advanced Disposal equipment as if it were his own,” said Chris Argon, maintenance manager for the company’s St. Johns County facility. “Every day he has a smile on his face and is looking for the next challenge. Because of him, I believe Advanced Disposal is a better company and a safer one.”

Logan grew up on a farm in Starkville, Mississippi, where he picked up his mechanical skills from his father. He joined the Navy and spent 20 years as communications electrician on the Attack Aircraft Carrier USS Saratoga, which gave him the opportunity to see the world. Morris started working for Charles Carroll at Southland Waste Systems in 1999 as a mechanic. After two months on the job, Carroll, who is now Advanced Disposal’s corporate director of maintenance, promoted him to second shift supervisor. Logan left Southland in 2004 to join Advanced Disposal and Charles Carroll, once again.

Morris will receive a $500 gift card and will be formally recognized at next year’s Advanced Disposal Waste Expo District and General Managers Meeting. He and his wife, Daisy, will receive an all expense paid trip to attend Waste Expo taking place in Dallas, Texas on May 9-11.

“Due to Morris’ attention to detail and overall excellent work performance, he is regularly asked to assist other Advanced Disposal locations to provide instruction and help in his area of expertise,” said Dave Lavender, regional vice president for Advanced Disposal. “We are honored that he was selected from a field of 1,800 dedicated employees who work for Advanced Disposal.”
