Government Officials Tour Facility as Part of Tennessee Recycling Coalition State Conference
Tennessee Recycling Coalition Conference attendees recently took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Williamson County Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Franklin as part of the annual conference’s agenda. City, county and state officials looking to grow recycling in their areas learned from Advanced Disposal’s successful MRF operation, which is located at 420 Century Ct.
“In less than a year, we’ve nearly doubled the total tonnage processed and recycled here at the Williamson County MRF,” said Randy James, plant manager for Advanced Disposal’s Sumrall Recycling Services. “We wanted to provide these civic leaders with a detailed look at a successful MRF that they could take back to their communities to hopefully grow recycling numbers for the entire state of Tennessee.”
The Williamson County MRF processes about 1,000 tons of materials each month from both residential and commercial customers, including the residents of Franklin, who recently began a curbside recycling program since the MRF opened. The facility accepts single-stream and segregated materials including aluminum, plastic, cardboard and steel. Keep Williamson Beautiful office is located at the Williamson County MRF and won an environmental leadership award at the state conference.
