Advanced Disposal, an integrated environmental services company, provided 12 $500 scholarships along with backpacks to students from local high schools. This was the 24th year the scholarships were awarded.

Guidance counselors from the students’ schools selected the scholarship recipients . The scholarship presentation took place at Tuesday’s commission meeting. Advanced Disposal Municipal Marketing & Government Affairs Manager Winston Massey presented the backpacks and scholarships on behalf of Advanced Disposal.

“Presenting these scholarships is one of my favorite parts of my job,” said Massey. “I always enjoy an opportunity to encourage students to continue their education and give back to their communities and to help keep then clean and green.”
