BUFFALO, Minn.
Advanced Disposal, an integrated environmental services company, and Rolling Hills Landfill recently hosted its fourth annual open house, opening the landfill to more than 275 local residents and guests.
A beautiful summer day provided a fantastic backdrop for open house attendees who were treated to breakfast provided by Cornerstone Café from Monticello, Minn., guided bus tours of the landfill, the opportunity to get up-close with Advanced Disposal garbage trucks and win prizes.
“It was such a fantastic day, and we were thrilled with the turnout for our annual open house,” said General Manager Mike Niewind. “Each year, we look forward to opening our doors and inviting the community to our landfill, so they can see how landfills operate and the precautions we take to ensure our community stays safe.”
Advanced Disposal has spent the last two years working with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) in an effort to expand the current landfill. Last month, the MPCA published the first phase of the landfill expansion paperwork and environmental impact statement.
