Advanced Disposal’s Wolf Creek Landfill, an integrated environmental services company, is now charter sponsor of Twiggs County, Ga. Cub Scout Pack 962, allowing area youth the opportunities to learn new things, discover and master new skills, gain self-confidence, and develop strong friendships.

Pack Master and Twiggs County Sherriff’s Department Major Jamie McDaniel started the pack in December 2012 as a way to keep his son, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, active in the outdoors and to share the same experience in scouting that he had as a boy. When the pack was formed, they had 10 scouts. Now, their pack has doubled in size.

In July 2013, Pack 962 lost their funding. McDaniel and his wife have chartered and supported the pack since then. The average cost to operate a pack is $250 a month. Advanced Disposal’s Wolf Creek Landfill has stepped in to charter and support Pack 962, which will now be called Wolf Creek Pack 962.

“Pack 962’s story was very compelling. We know children are our future, and we want to encourage young environmentalists to learn about taking care of Mother Earth,” said Wolf Creek Landfill General Manager Virginia Villatoro. “Scouting is a great way to be involved, and we are honored to charter Wolf Creek Pack 962 and ensure our youngsters continue to have the opportunities they’ve come to love by being part of their pack.”
