Advanced Disposal (NYSE: ADSW), an integrated environmental services company, is pleased to announce the hiring of Guy Thompson as the east region vice president, effective today. The east region includes; Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He will be located in Charlotte, N.C. and report directly to Chief Operating Officer, John Spegal.
“Guy is an extremely capable and experienced leader, with an impressive background in the solid waste industry,” commented John Spegal, chief operating officer. “With his skills in strategic planning, operations, customer service, public sector sales, financial forecasting, and organizational management, I am confident he will be a great asset to our team.”
Thompson has more than 25 years of experience in the solid waste industry, including managing in excess of 1,400 employees, 20 divisions, and operating budgets exceeding $350 million. Since 2012, Thompson most recently served as an area vice president in western Canada with Waste Management, Inc., and prior to that he was the public sector solutions area director in Florida. He has held a variety of leadership positions from 1990 until 2003 including; area president, general manager, sales manager, and manager of manufacturing national accounts with Republic Services, Inc., New South Waste Inc. and Browning Ferris Industries, Inc. Thompson received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky and his Master of Business Administration from Shenandoah University.
